Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of cooling intake air, by a method wherein an intake air manifold is situated to the outside of a cylinder block and in a central position between V-row cylinders and in the vicinity of the respective suction port of cylinders. CONSTITUTION:Air compressed by two superchargers 1 and 2 is cooled by means of coolers 8 and 9, respectively to force the air to flow to a single intake air manifold 7. The intake air manifold 7 is situated to the outside of a cylinder block 16 and in the central position between V-row cylinders 12 and 13 and in the vicinity of suction ports 14 and 15 of the cylinders 12 and 13. This constitution, since the intake air manifold is separated away from a combustion chamber, prevents reheating of air in the intake air manifold, and enables improvement of the efficiency of cooling intake air.
