Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the title lead-tin alloy plated steel sheet having excellent corrosion resistance by applying the layer of a lead-tin alloy plating on the surface of a steel sheet, and further applying thereon the upper layer of the lead-tin alloy plating with the reduced tin content. CONSTITUTION:A lead-tin alloy plating is applied on the surface of a steel sheet by electroplating or hot dipping to form the lower plating layer. A lead-tin alloy plating wherein the thin content is lower than that in the lower layer by >=1wt.% or a lead plating is then formed on the lower plating layer by electroplating to form the upper plating layer. At this time, the amt. of the upper plating layer is controlled to >=about 0.05g/m<2>, and the total amt. of the plating film is controlled to about 5-250g/m<2>. By this method, the generation of pinholes in the plating film is suppressed, and a lead-tin alloy plated steel sheet with improved corrosion resistance is obtained.
