Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance current collectibility by setting up an auxiliary collecting plate in a position inserting an active material support in conjection with a collecting tab, and joining the auxiliary collecting plate to the active material support together with the collecting tab by means of resistance welding. CONSTITUTION:An electrodes substrate 1 is made up by applying each process of binding agent addition, drying and compression molding to such one that directly is charged with an active material having pastelike nickel hydroxide as its main component, to a feltlike sintered body of a nickel fiber, and then it is cut off in a specified form. In a welding part 1a of the electrode substrate 1, a collecting tab 2 is adjacently provided so as to cause a base end 2a to go along the one side surface, while an auxiliary collecting plate 3 consisting of the flat nickel plate is adjacently arranged so as to make the whole body go along the other surface. Namely, the collecting tab 2 and the auxiliary collecting plate 3 are adjacently set up in the welding part 1a in a state so as to insert the electrode substrate 1 jointly. In this connection, a contact area to the electrode substrate 1 of the auxiliary collecting plate 3 is set so as to be equaled to an area of the collecting tab 2.
