Abstract
PURPOSE:To simultaneously perform the molding of a plastic lens and the formation of hard coating layers on the surfaces of the molded lens by a method wherein hard coating agent is applied in advance on the transfer surfaces of a first and a second rigid molds and liquid hardening resin monomer or prepolymer is filled into a cavity so to be polymerized and hardened. CONSTITUTION:A first rigid mold 3 has a convex transfer surface 3a, on which hard coating agent 2a is applied. On the other hand, a second rigid mold 4 has a concave transfer surface 4a, on which hard coating agent 2b is applied. A cavity 10 is formed by fitting the first and the second rigid molds 3 and 4, the transfer surfaces of which are faced to each other, to an annular elastic mold 5 having a stepped part 5a. By fixing the rigid molds by an elastic spring 6 from the backs of the first and the second rigid molds 3 and 4, a mold is assembled. Finally, hardening resin monomer or prepolymer is poured in the cavity 10 so as to be polymerized and hardened by heating or by the irradiation with energy beam.
