Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize correct white balance adjustment by comparing the color temperature of a surrounding light obtained from a calorimetry means and color temperature data from a lighting device, deciding them, controlling amplification gain and adjusting the white balance. CONSTITUTION:This invention has a means storing the color temperature data concerning to the lighting device 12, the calorimetry means 11 measuring the color temperature caused by the surrounding light, amplification means 4 and 5 controlling the balance of a chrominance signal obtained from an image pickup element 3 and a means comparing the color temperature of the surrounding light obtained from the calorimetry means 11 and the color temperature data from the lighting means, deciding them, controlling the amplification gain by the amplification means 4 and 5 according to the result of the comparison and the decision and adjusting the white balance. Thus, when the surrounding light is much different from the color temperature of the filming lighting source of one's own or the surrounding light is big and constituted by the plural light sources of which color temperature are different, the white balance can be correctly adjusted.
