Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance and heat resistance of the titled alloy while maintaining its lightness and corrosion resistance and crystallizing out TiC grains into a Ti or Ti alloy matrix contg. a specific amt. of C. CONSTITUTION:The ingot obtd. by melting and refining the Ti or Ti alloy contg. 1.8-18wt.% C is heated, is thereafter hot rolled and is annealed to form a grain dispersion strengthened Ti based alloy in which TiC grains are uniformly dispersed and crystallized out. Since the TiC grains are ultra high strength grains, the whole composite material is hardened by a composite rule to improve the wear resistance thereof. The titled Ti based alloy is lightweight; and is therefore advantageously utilizable as a rotary or a reciprocating member applying less loads on a kinetic mechanism.
