Abstract
PURPOSE:To increase the accumulated current without making the size of a deflecting electromagnet too large by arranging windings of correction coils near the pole face of an electromagnet in parallel with the pole face and in the advance direction of charged particles in a deflection section. CONSTITUTION:The main coil 7 of a deflecting magnet 3 is wound to surround the periphery of a pole face 8, winding sections of correction coils 9a-9c placed on the pole face are arranged in parallel with the center orbit 6 of charged particles. The magnetic field distribution in the pole width direction of a deflection section can be adjusted, the maximum magnetic flux density can be increased by correcting the effect of the ferrous saturation, as a result the deflecting magnet 3 can be made small-sized. A small-sized device with a large accumulated current is thereby obtained.
