Abstract
PURPOSE:To simplify a device, by making the brightness and darkness interval of a grid to be wide, for example, at a position corresponding to the starting point of main scanning, generating a signal corresponding to the starting position of a main scanning point by using a phase detection circuit so as to remarkably reduce the number of an optical element. CONSTITUTION:The grid 38 is formed by alternatively forming a transmission part 38b transmitting an optical beam for synchronizing Lb and a nontransmission part 38a interrupting the optical beam Lb with a fixed pitch. Then at one part in the vicinity of the starting point of it, they are formed to vary their pitch from the other part and this part is the starting point control part 38c of the grid 38. As at this starting point control part 38c, the phase of the optical beam Lb is modulated to be different from that at the other part, the phase of a grid signal Sg obtained based on the grid 38 at a part corresponding to the control part 38c is different from that at a part corresponding to the other part. Thus a starting point synchronizing signal and a synchronizing signal can be obtained by a simple constitution.
