Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a pulsed laser device with improved stability and high oscillation efficiency, allowing for a long-pulse oscillation, by applying a high-voltage pulse with a sharp leading edge and by adding a circuit which provide automatic pre-ionization to a circuit which can apply low voltage required for maintaining discharge for a long time. CONSTITUTION:A high voltage is applied to capacitors C0 and C2 for performing charging through charge resistors R1, R2, and R3. After the charging is completed, pre-ionization gaps 7 and 8 are discharged and spare electrolytic dissociation is performed. At the same time, a trigger pulse is applied to a gap switch 9 and then a voltage which is two times larger than the charging voltage is applied between the main electrodes to activate main discharge. At this time, C0 must be equal to or less than C1. As the voltage of Marx circuit is reduced and voltage applied to between the main electrodes is reduced, current begins to flow from the capacitor C3 and saturable reactor L1 is saturated. Then, inductance is reduced and a low-voltage discharge begins to remain between the main electrodes. Furthermore, as the voltage of capacitor C3 is reduced, current begins to flow from the capacitor C4 and supersaturated reactor Ls2 is saturated. Then, inductance is reduced and a low-voltage discharge further remains between the main electrodes.
