Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for various fluoropolymers readily without rectification, by adding a specific amount of water to a mixture of 1,3- and 1,4-bis(2-hydroxyhexafluoro-2-propyl)benzenes to separate crystal. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of 1,3- and 1,4-bis(2-hydroxyhexafluoro-2-propyl) benzenes is incorporated with >=1 equivalent, preferably 2-4 equivalents based on the 1,4-substituted compound of water and crystallized crystal is separated to give the aimed compound. In the addition of water, stirring is sufficiently carried out, enough time is required to completely crystallize monohydrate of the compound and the time is properly about 5hr. The monohydrate crystal of the aimed compound is washed with benzene, water is removed by azeotropic distillation and further a small amount of 1,3-substituted compound is separated by distillation.
