Abstract

PURPOSE: To make composite lumber from inexpensive raw material through simple process by providing a layer of split wood pieces having irregular corrugation on surface of a joined layer consisting of filler powder layer and synthesized adhesive polymeric resin, etc. CONSTITUTION: Laid side by side on the surface are split wood pieces fragmented into appropriate sizes as leaving irregular corrugation. Formed on the split wood pieces is adhesive layer appropriately blended with such filler powders as sawdust, pulp dust and paper-mill sludge along with adhesive such as synthesized polymeric resin. Then split wood pieces are laid side by side on that adhesive layer so as to make a right angle with split wood pieces. What has formed an adhesive layer blended with filler powders and synthesized polymeric resin between upper and lower split wood layers is heated after pressurized with a press to accelerate joint of adhesive. The boards are commercialized, according to request, by being machined and finished their upper and lower surfaces in plane.
