Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide superior high strength and toughness as well as excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance, by subjecting an Ni-base single-crystal alloy containing specific amounts of Cr, Fe, Ti, Al, and Nb to solution heat treatment at a specific temp. and then to ageing treatment. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-phase single-crystal alloy which has a composition consisting of, by weight, 14-17% Cr, 5-9% Fe, 2.25-2.75% Ti, 0.4-1.0% Al, 0.7-1.2% Nb, and the balance Ni with inevitable impurities and containing, if necessary, 0.1-0.5% Cu is cast. This alloy is subjected to solution heat treatment at 1,200-1,300 deg.C, by which gamma'-phase is allowed to enter into solid solution. Subsequently, ageing treatment is applied to the above alloy at 680-750 deg.C for about 20-100hr. By this method, an Ni-base alloy having superior stress corrosion cracking resistance at room temp. and high temp. and simultaneously excellent in strength and toughness can be obtained. This alloy can be used for nuclear reactor structural members.
