Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the detachment and scattering of a highly water-absorbable powder from a cut end, by directly bonding the first and second sheets in a powder absent region to integrate a laminate and subsequently cutting the powder absent region in the longitudinal direction. CONSTITUTION:In preparing a strip like water absorbable sheet, a highly water- absorbable powder 5 is scattered on the first sheet 1 from several highly water- absorbable powder scattering devices 2 while the sheet 1 is transferred along a guide roll 11. Since the scattering devices 2 are arranged in parallel at a definite interval with respect to the longitudinal direction of the sheet 1, the presence and absence regions 3, 4 of the highly water-absorbable powder 5 are alternately formed to the sheet 1 in the lateral direction thereof. Thereafter, the second sheet 6 is laminated to the first sheet 1 to form a laminate 7 which is, in turn, bonded under pressure by a pressure roll 8 to be strongly integrated. When the absence regions 4 of the highly water-absorbable powder 5 are cut in the longitudinal direction by several slitter rolls 9, several strip like water absorbable sheets 10 are obtained at a stroke. Therefore, no powder is present at the end part of the sheet 10 at the time of cutting and the detachment and scattering of the powder are prevented.
