Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain excellent FM reception by applying an independent and optimum automatic gain control (AGC) voltage to a high frequency (RF) attenuator and an RF amplifier. CONSTITUTION:An AGC circuit for a board band, an AGC circuit for a narrow band and a control circuit 9 deciding an optimum AGC in response to the quantity of an electric field strength of a signal of a receiving frequency (desired signal) and its upper/lower adjacent frequencies (disturbing signal) depending on the output of both the circuits, and applying independently an optimum AGC voltage based on the decided quantity to the RF attenuator 2 and the RF amplifier 3, are provided. Thus, the control circuit 9 can continuously control the titled receiver to the optimum state entirely independently of the RF attenuator 2 and the RF amplifier 3 controlling the RF signal level to the succeeding stage. Thus, the disturbance due to intermodulation and cross modulation hardly takes place, and excellent FM reception is attained even in a district where there are lots of FM stations and the electric field strength is high.
