Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the fiber of high tensile strength on an industrial scale without requiring sophisticated production equipment and complicated control mechanism, by spinning a melt comprising specified proportion of SiO2, Al2O3 and MgO taking advantage of centrifugal force. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber can be obtained by spinning taking advantage of centrifugal force, of a melt comprising 15-28wt.% of SiO2, 62-75wt.% of Al2O3 and 3-18wt.% of MgO.
