Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a temperature measuring instrument having a simple compact structure by using an internal medium having a large refractive index as compared with that of an external medium surrounding a Fabry-Perot interference element. CONSTITUTION: A temperature measuring instrument is constituted of a light source 1, a first glass fiber 3a, a Fabry-Perot interference element 4, a second glass fiber 3b, and a photodetector 2. The element 4 has a plate-like shape and is surrounded by an external medium 11 and the inside of the element 4 is filled up with an internal medium 6. The boundary between the media 6 and 11 functions as a mirror and the medium 6 has a refractive index higher than that of the medium 11. The light from the light source 1 is condensed into the glass fiber 3a and guided to a temperature measuring place. The light emitted from the front face 5a of the fiber 3a is completely or partially transmitted through the element 4 and converged into the glass fiber 3b. At the end of the fiber 3b, the light is absorbed by the photodetector 2. Evaluation electronics can be connected to the outlet side of the photodetector 2 if necessary.
