Abstract
PURPOSE:To form a seal lip of a filter element certainly removed from any flash by setting an upper mold so as not to compress a sealing substance filled in a lower mold. CONSTITUTION:A lower mold 13 is prepared, wherein a groove 11 is formed at its top face and a flange 12 is projected at its peripheral side face. A cutter 14 is attached to the flange 12 with clamp screws 15. A urethane stock 16 is filled into the groove 11, a filter body 17 is set upon the top face of a lower mold 13 and an upper mold 18 is fitted to the peripheral part of the top face of lower mold 13. Part of the urethane stock 16 flows out of the groove 11 during a forming process, but that flowing out part of the urethane stock, i.e. a flash, is cut off and removed by the cutter. After the stock is cured and the upper mold is lifted off, a seal lip is formed together with the filter into one body, so that a filter element without any flash is obtained.
