Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily and surely strip only the coating layers of optical fibers without damaging the fibers by expanding the spacing between two sets of gripping members and stripping the coating layers on the front end part side from the lancing of the multi-cored optical fiber while gripping said coating layers by the gripping members on the front end part side of the multi-cored optical fibers. CONSTITUTION:The respective coating layers on the upper and lower sides of the optical fibers 31 of the multi-cored optical fibers 3 are lanced by blades 12a, 12b provided to the gripping members 1 when the flat planes of gripping plates 1a, 2a are matched with the flat planes of gripping plates 1b, 2b and the optical fibers 3 are respectively gripped. The coating layers on the front end part from the lancing part of the fibers 3 are then stripped and the optical fibers 31 are exposed when the gripping members 2 are slid in an arrow direction along the axial line direction of respective guide rod 13a, 13b while the front end part sides of the fibers 3 and held gripped by the gripping plates 2a, 2b of the members 2. The coating layers are thereby easily stripped without damaging the optical fibers.
