Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide the titled fiber mat having a specific structure comprising three-dimensionally entangled fibers containing fused magnesium phosphate, effective in facilitating the sowing and growing work and enabling the setting of the plant in the state of initial mat. CONSTITUTION:The objective mat has a structure comprising three-dimensionally entangled fibers essentially containing fused magnesium phosphate. At least a part of the contacting part of the fibers is bonded and fixed with a binder such as montmorillonite and the mat is made to have a bulk density of 0.05-0.35g/cm<3> and a shape-retainability of >=90% in soaked state. Seeds or seedlings are directly planted on the mat. The sowing and growing work can be carried out in a short time by anyone in any place.
