Abstract
PURPOSE:To obviate the generation of thermal deterioration at the time of forming a thin ferromagnetic metallic film by heating, more particularly vapor deposition during production by specifying the ratio of the Young's modulus of a base body at 90 deg.C and the Young's modulus of the base body at room temp. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of the Young's modulus E90 of the base body at 90 deg.C of a magnetic recording medium constituted by providing the thin ferromagnetic metallic film on the base body (for example, flexible plastic base body) and the Young's modulus ERT of the base body at room temp. satisfies the equation I. Whether the thermal deterioration is generated at the time of forming the thin ferromagnetic metallic film by the vapor deposition, etc., or not is largely dependent upon the ratio of the Young's modulus of the base body film particularly in the heated state and the Young's modulus at room temp. Namely, the trouble by the thermal deterioration is not generated if E90/ERT is 1.0>=E90/ERT>=0.6. The thermal deterioration is not generated at all if 1.0>=E90/RRT>=0.65. The thermal deterioration such as wrinkling and holing is thereby not generated at all in the stage when the recording medium receives heat in the production process. The recording medium is thus stably produced at a high yield.
