Abstract
PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of film crack, substrate warpage, etc., and to improve environmental resistance and reliability by providing protective layers having <=80kg/mm<2> internal stress in contact with at least one side of a magnetic material having an exchange-bonded two-layered structure. CONSTITUTION:The protective layers 5, 2 having <=80kg/mm<2> internal stress are provided on the one side of the recording layer 4 and reading out layer 3 of a magneto-optical memory medium having the magnetic material of the exchange-bonded two-layerd structure consisting of the recording layer 4 which has high coercive force and low Curie temp. at room temp. and the reading out layer 3 having low coercive force and high Curie temp. at room temp. on a disk-shaped polycarbonate substrate 1. While the deterioration of the coercive force with age is suppressed, the generation of the film crack, substrate warpage, etc., is suppressed by the combination of the exchange-bonded two- layered films and the protective film layers having the low internal stress of <=80kg/mm<2>. The environmental resistance and reliability are thus improved and the recording and reproducing characteristics of information are improved as well.
