Abstract
PURPOSE:To accurately and easily judge the presence of a whistle, by comparing the timewise changing sound pressure level of a received acoustic signal with two preset high and low threshold value levels. CONSTITUTION:The acoustic signal of the frequency band of the whistle sound emitted from a ship is received by a filter means 5 consisting of highly directional microphones 1a-1d and a BPF and the timewise change of the sound pressure level of the acoustic signal received by a detection means 6 is led out and the led-out sound pressure level of the acoustic signal is compared with two preset high and low threshold value levels by a microcomputer (MC) 8 as a discrimination means. Then, the presence of whistle sound is identified during a period when the sound pressure level of the acoustic signal exceeds the high threshold value level and subsequently reaches the low threshold value level and the absence thereof is identified during a period when said sound pressure level falls below the low threshold value level and subsequently reaches the high threshold value level. The MC 8 leads out the pattern of the whistle sound from the discrimination result of the presence and absence of the whistle sound to discriminate the same.
