Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the rest of a developer stably with simple constitution by employing mechanical constitution for a stepwise detecting means for the rest of toner. CONSTITUTION:This detecting device is equipped with a detection member 11 which is provided in a container so as to swing between 1st and 2nd positions, a means 13 which energizes the detection member 11 toward the 2nd position, a forcible moving means 9 which moves the detecting member 11 intermittently toward the 1st position against the energizing force, a means 20 which changes the 2nd position stepwise as the amount of the developer decreases, and a developer rest detecting means which operates associatively with the detecting means 11, detects the detecting member 11 reaching the 2nd position, and detects the rest of the developer. The mechanical constitution is employed for the stepwise detecting means for the rest of toner, so the constitution is simplified and the rest of the toner is detected stably.
