Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition outstanding in dispersion stability, by dispersing in an aqueous medium a carboxyl group-contg. resin reaction product prepared by esterification between an epoxy group-contg. vinyl chloride resin and a specific carboxyl group-contg. vinyl polymer. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by dispersing, in an aqueous medium, a carboxyl group-contg. resin reaction product prepared by esterification between (A) 40-90pts.wt. of a vinyl chloride resin containing epoxy group as the pendant group, and (B) 10-60pts.wt. of a carboxyl group- contg. vinyl polymer derived from (i) a carboxyl group-contg. vinyl monomer [e.g. (meth)acrylic acid], (ii) an aromatic vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene), and (iii) other monomer(s) selected from alpha,beta-ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic alkyl esters [e.g. methyl (meth)acrylate], hydroxyalkyl esters (e.g. hydroxyethyl acrylate) and N-hydroxyalkylamides.
