CONSTITUTION:A predetermined amount of grain protein such as wheat gluten or a partial hydrolysate thereof (a wt. average MW; 700-90,000, an isoelectric point; 3.9-5.0, ultraviolet absorption lambdamax; 260-280nm, infrared absorption; 1,400, 1630, 3400cm<-1>) is added to an aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and sufficiently mixed therewith under stirring to be dissolved therein. This aqueous solution is added to an aqueous system forming silica scale such as calcium silicate or magnesium silicate. By this method, a beneficial result from the aspect of sanitarity and public nuisance is obtained.
