Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate a DC current generated by an external noise light by providing a series circuit comprising a diode and a resistor in parallel with a resistor connected in series with a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:When the level of incoming external noise light is low and the DC current generated in a photodetector 1 is small, the potential at a connecting point 10 is low and the diode 4 is nonconductive. When the incoming external noise light level is high and the DC current generated in the detector 1 is high, the potential at the connecting point 10 rises, the diode 4 is conductive and the rate of rise in the potential at the connecting point 10 with respect to the input light level is reduced. In this case, if the resistor 3 is selected sufficiently smaller than the resistor 2, the effect comes eminently. Even when the external noise light with a large level is given in this way, when the potential at the connecting point 10 does not reach +V(volt), the AC signal component passes through a capacitor 5 and outputted via an amplifier 6.
