Abstract
PURPOSE:To allow the molding of a fan casing with inexpensive, lightweight plastic by disposing a heat exchanger and a fan in the air duct leading from the air inlet to outlet, and a sterilizing lamp in the air outlet which radiate at the air in the air duct. CONSTITUTION:A sterilizing lamp 16 is housed in a recess 15 which is integrally formed with the lower board of the air outlet 4. When the operation switch is turned, the room air taken in from the air inlet 3 is cooled or heated by a heat exchanger 6, and then is delivered into the room out of the air outlet 4. A few minutes after the operation startup of a cross-flow fan 8, the sterilizing lamp 16 is illuminated to radiate ultraviolet rays to decompose ozone generated into oxygen molecules and oxygen atoms so that germs existing in the air delivered from the air outlet 4 may be exterminated and chemical substances such as odor and pollutants may be oxidized and decomposed. Because the cross-flow fan 8 is continued to operate for several minutes after the cooling or heating operation is stopped and the sterilizing lamp 16 turned off, the oxidizing deterioration of electrical components in the electrical equipment compartment can be prevented which might otherwise be caused by ozone remaining in the air outlet 4.
