Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the flowing in of earth and sand more than needed by attaching a cutter to the front face of a drilling head which excavates the natural ground in front of a small-diameter pipe underground and a plate to the rear side of the cutter so as to eliminate the void produced by the thickness of the cutter. CONSTITUTION: A pilot pipe 5 is buried by driving the pipe 5 by means of an excavator 1 and a small-diameter underground pipe 6 is connected to the rear end of the pipe 5 and buried while the natural ground is excavated by means of an excavating head 8. The excavated earth and sand taken in the head 8 are slurrified and made to flow to an earth and sand tank through a slurry pipe 13. The slurry flowing in the tank is pumped up to an earth/sand separating tank device 10. In addition, a cutter 21 is attached to the front end of a cutter drum 8b provided in front of the excavator body and a plate 23 which is thinner in thickness than the cutter 21 is attached to the rear side of the cutter 21 so as to prevent the formation of a void on the rear side of the cutter and flowing in of excavated earth and sand in the void when the cutter 21 excavates the natural ground. Therefore, the burying work of the small- diameter pipe 6 can be executed easily and inexpensively.
