Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer, having a specific structure containing SH groups at the terminals and specific molecular weight, excellent water and moisture resistance, capable of readily regulating viscosity and useful as adhesives, etc., by reacting a polythiol with a polyepoxide having no ester bond. CONSTITUTION:The aimed polymer, obtained by reacting epoxy groups of a polyepoxide, expressed by expressed by formula I (R is bi- or trifunctional residue having no ester bond; m is 2 or 3) and having no ester bond (e.g. bisphenol A type epoxide) with mercapto groups of a polythiol expressed by formula II (t, w and x are integers of 1-5; A is O or S) (e.g. triglycol mercaptane) and having recurring units expressed by formula III (n is 0 or 1), terminal SH groups and 350-500,000mol.wt.
