Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve throughput in printing operation by providing a data substorage conversion means to compress and store an image signal code every region which is read from a memory means according to a prearranged rule and extend compressed codes and output at the time of non-printing. CONSTITUTION:Image data begins to be read from a page memory 11 upon a command for printing from a control part. The image data which is read is transferred to a printer mechanical part 13. With this transfer, prearranged printing action at the printer mechanical part 13 and the compression of codes of image data by an encoder 14 are performed. In addition, the compressed codes are stored into a memory 15. When printing is impossible at the printer mechanical part 13, jamming paper is removed and the reading of image data from the memory 15 via a decoder 16 is initiated. Then image data restored to its original code system is output from the decoder 16. Subsequently, the printing action on the same page is executed again at the printer mechanical part 13.
