Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of the filtering medium of a bag filter by adding an organic solvent for dissolving tar to combustion gas of coal in the case of collecting dust contained in the gas with the bag filter. CONSTITUTION:The gas to be treated which contains dust and tar caused by the combustion of coal is introduced into a bag filter 2 and made clean gas 4 and discharged from the bag filter. A pressure gage 8 is provided on the bag filter 2 and when pressure drop is increased, and organic solvent 9 can be added to the gas 1 to be treated. By this setup, the pressure drop of a filter medium is reduced by flowing away adhesive dust and tar stuck on the surface of the filter medium. Further the organic solvent 9 may be mixed with the gas one side wall of the bag filter or the gas 6 for scraping down the dust in addition to said introduction place.
