Abstract
PURPOSE:To miniaturize a smoothing reactor, by a method wherein power running mode, putting one set of switching elements ON, and current circulating mode, putting only one of 2 sets of switching elements ON, are repeated alternately. CONSTITUTION:When a motor current (i2) is conducted into an arrow sign direction in a diagram, power running mode, putting switching elements S1, S3 ON, and current circulating mode, putting only the switching element S3, are repeated alternately. In the power running mode, the current (i2) is conducted through a passage, shown by a chain line in the diagram, while being increased. In the current circulating mode, the current (i2) is conducted through the passage, shown by a full line in the diagram, while being reduced slowly by a time constant determined by the inductance of the same passage. A voltage, having the same waveform as the motor current, is generated in a shunt resistor 3 during this period of time and the output side voltage of a differential amplifier A1 is supplied to a current control unit 5 through an inversion adder A3.
