Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically read an original image at an arbitrary place regardless of the shape and thickness of an original and possibility of the transportation or movement of the original by constituting a self-propelling means to self-propell an image reading part in a prescribed direction to be attachable to the image reading part. CONSTITUTION:A self-propelling device 60 transports a handy scanner 10 from side to side and backward and forward. The self-propelling device 60 is constituted attachably to the handy scanner 10, etc., and when it is fitted, a switch 30a is turned on by a mechanism. Thus, the image of the desired original can be efficiently and automatically read regardless of the type and shape of the original at an arbitrary place and an image reading burden by an operator can be widely decreased.
