Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the appearance attractive and improve the carry performance by forming one portion or the whole portions of all dimples in a golf ball having a transparent cover layer into a non-circular plane. CONSTITUTION: Two large and small circular dimples 10a, 10b for example are disposed in each spherical surface reference unit 32 of a golf ball covered with a transparent cover layer. In an angle made of two annular land parts 20 crossing each other in the center point of a spherical surface triangle 30 of the spherical surface reference unit 32 is disposed one large-sized petal-like non-circular dimple 1a sufficiently close to the annular land parts 20 together with one small petal-like non-circular dimple 1b in an angle made of two annular land parts 20 crossing each other in the apex of the spherical surface triangle 30. The rate of the number of the non-circular dimples to the number of the whole dimples needs to be at least 7%. Then, the rate of mixing is 50%. In this example, the carry performance of the golf ball can be effectively improved and sufficiently stabilized irrespective of the driving position for the golf ball.
