Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain characteristics of incoming/outgoing lines individually by only operating one terminal station by providing a means for applying frequency conversion to a level on a loopback connecting point of both the incoming and outgoing lines. CONSTITUTION:Switches SW1, SW2 are turned on by a control signal generated at the near end at the time of testing lines W1, W2 and the oscillated frequency and the output level of the oscillator 1 are set to a desired value. The output of the oscillator is inputted to a remote end conversion circuit 2 via the line W1, rectified and smoothed (21), the carrier frequency signal having a prescribed level and frequency is subjected to frequency modulation by a smoothed output and the result is sent to the line W2. A measuring circuit 3 receiving the frequency modulation signal applies frequency demodulation to the reception signal or leaves the reception signal as it is in response to the switching of the SW3 to supply the result to a level meter 32. As a result, the transmission characteristics of the incoming/outgoing lines is measured individually by the near end operation only.
