Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the flexibility in arrangement, by setting an arm part which extends against a free cam follower, on a driving cam follower in an integrated one body, and attaching a spring between the arm part and the free cam follower. CONSTITUTION:Connection switching mechanisms 9a, 9b are set among cam followers 6, 7, 8. An arm part 16 which extends against the free cam follower 7, is set on the driving cam follower 6, in an integrated one body. A spring 20 adapted to energize the free cam follower 7 to the cam shaft 2 side, is attached between the arm part 16 and the free cam follower 7. With this constitution, as it becomes unnecessary to insure a space for receiving a spring in an engine main body, the flexibility in arrangement can be increased.
