Abstract
PURPOSE:To refine a metallic structure, to control a texture and the state of precipitation, and to improve formability, by holding a plate to be rolled at a specific temp. in a specific region in the course of rolling at the time of subjecting, after soaking, an Al-alloy ingot to hot rough rolling. CONSTITUTION:An ingot of Al alloy consisting of, by weight, 0.1-2.0% Mn, 0.1-2.0% Mg, <=0.7% Fe, <=0.5% Si, <=0.5% Cu, and the balance A2 is subjected to soaking treatment and then to hot roughing. In the course of this roughing, between a rolling pass after the total draft exceeds 50% and the following pass, the plate to be rolled is allowed to stand to be cooled or is subjected to forced cooling, etc., using water or coolant, by which the temp. of the plate to be rolled is maintained at 300-450 deg.C for >=1min. Subsequently, hot finish rolling, cold rolling, and annealing are applied to manufacture an Al-alloy material for forming. By this method, a metal plate uniform in quality in a longitudinal direction can be obtained.
