Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a stock to be rolled from sliding down by comparing an output signal from a position detecting means with an output signal from a deviation arithmetic means to control a guide roll position. CONSTITUTION:The position of the guide roll 2 is conformed to a pass line center C in advance and the deviation position WR which has worked out this position as a starting point and an output signal P from a position detector 9 are inputted into a position controller. The deviation position WR is compared by this position controller with an output signal P to work out the quantity of correction of the guide roll 2. In addition, the position controller outputs a signal R corresponding to the quantity of correction worked out to the controller for driving the guide roll. Therefore, the controller for driving the guide roll moves the guide roll 2 through an electric motor 6 according to the signal R. Accordingly, the position of the guide roll can be always automatically corrected to prevent the stock to be rolled from sliding down.
