Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance sensitivity and to reduce deterioration of electric chargeability due to preexposure fatigue by forming an aluminum oxide hydrate layer chemically prepared on the surface of a conductive base body. CONSTITUTION:The aluminum oxide hydrate layer 12 is formed on the surface of the conductive base body 11 having an upper layer made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy by chemically treating this upper layer, and a photosensitive layer 14 is formed on said layer 12, thus permitting sensitivity to be enhanced and deterioration of chargeability due preexposure to be remarkably reduced.
