Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a rust preventing film on the exposed iron edge of a surface treated steel sheet after working as well as to degrease the steel sheet by treating the steel sheet with an alkali degreasing soln. contg. a component forming a rust preventing film.
CONSTITUTION: A surface treated steel sheet having an exposed iron edge after working is treated with an alkali degreasing soln. contg. a component forming a rust preventing film such as an Ni complex. The amt. of the component added is regulated to about 1W50g per 1l alkali degreasing soln. and the treatment is carried out by spraying, immersion, electrolytic degreasing or other method. Thus, while the surface treated steel sheet is degreased, a rust preventing film can be formed on the exposed iron edge of the steel sheet after working such as punching, bending or pressing.
