Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled composition with improved initial bond strength without impairing the characteristics including stability, of alpha-cyanoacrylate, by formulating alpha-cyanoacrylate with a polyhydric alcohol (derivative) and polyhydroxyl compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by formulating alpha-cyanoacrylate with (A) a polyhydric alcohol (derivative) or a compound having recurring unit of formula I (X1 and X2 are each H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; p is >=1; q is >=2) and (B) a polyhydroxyl compound in which two or more hydroxyl groups occupy sites adjacent each other, of formula II (r is 2-3). For the compounds to be incorporated in the alpha-cyanoacrylate, polyether compounds of formula III [X3 and X4 are each H, methyl, etc.; X5 is H, R2 (R2 is hydrocarbon free from anionically polymerizable group), etc.; (l+m)>=1, n>=1] and pyrogallol should be excluded.
