Abstract

PURPOSE: To correct the disorder of a speech waveform by a digital speech synthesis system which employs adaptive differential PCM by detecting the center point deviation of a decoded speech waveform and removing it. CONSTITUTION: Speech data at the current point to be synthesized is read out of a work memory 2 and synthesized by an ADPCM system. The center value between a maximum and a minimum value in the speech waveform from the current point to a point traced back by a time longer than a speech repetition period is found as the center value of the speech waveform. Further, a threshold value for the center point deviation is used to decide whether or not the found center point needs to be corrected and when the point needs to be corrected, the value of the current point after the deviation is removed is transferred to a D/A converter 3. Therefore, the disorder of the speech waveform can easily be corrected with a small process quantity and a parallel process with, for example, a process for fast synthesis is enabled.
