Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the reliability, when the first detecting means is in abnormality, by providing the first and second control means, which respectively control engine adjusting elements being based on outputs of the first and second detecting means, and selectively using these control means in accordance with the result of deciding the first detecting means for whether it is normal or abnormal. CONSTITUTION:The first control means 66, which controls engine adjusting elements of an injector 8 and an ignition device 52 or the like being based on outputs of an air flow sensor 11, serving as the first detecting means, and an engine speed sensor 21, is provided. While the second control means 67, which controls these adjusting elements being based on outputs of the first detecting means and a throttle sensor 14 serving as the second detecting means, is provided. Each adjusting element is controlled by selecting in a selecting means 64 respectively the first control means 66, when the air flow sensor 11 is decided to be normal by a decision means 63, while the second control means 67 when the air flow sensor 11 is decided to be abnormal. Here a control mode of the adjusting element by the second control means 67 is set in a manner wherein a crew bodily senses a condition of abnormality during the control by the second control means 67.
