Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily restore the partial picture data by controlling the head address of the compressed data after storing it in an index part. CONSTITUTION:An original picture 10 is previously divided into (n) pieces of blocks 0, 1, 2...n-1 and n (n: integer) and the picture data are compressed against each block. Then an index part is added to the compressed data of each block and the head address of each corresponding compressed data is stored in each index part for control of picture data. In such a way, the picture data especially a part of this picture data can be easily restored by searching an index out of a memory and processing it.
