Abstract

On the other hand, the optimum current gain M to make the S/N of the APD 1 maximum has a characteristic in which it is reduced to the rise of the light input level little by little. Since the voltage control circuit 5 is not included in an AGC control system, the circuit is not related to the change of the light input level and a flat M characteristic is obtained. Consequently, by setting suitably the value of the bias voltage VAPD, the M characteristic can be made close to the more optimum value.
