Abstract
PURPOSE:To make an excitation circuit simple, and to oscillate a laser beam having a long pulse duration with high efficiency, by adding an auxiliary capaci tor and an attached inductor to the excitation circuit, and by connecting across a high voltage electrode and a ground electrode in a predetermined manner. CONSTITUTION:A pair of main discharge electrodes are composed of a high voltage electrode 5 and a ground electrode 6 in an excitation circuit of a pulsed laser. And, a series circuit comprising a UV spark gap 8 and a peaking capaci tor 4 is connected in parallel with the pair of the electrodes, and one end of an attached inductor 2 is connected to the electrode 5. Moreover, an auxiliary capacitor 1 is connected across the other end of the attached inductor 2 and the electrode 6, one end of a charging capacitor 3 is connected to the connection between the other end of the inductor 2 and one end of the capacitor 1, and both the other end of the capacitor 3 and one end of a thyratron 7 are con nected to one output terminal of a high voltage power supply 13. Further, both of the electrode 6 and the other end of the thyratron 7 are connected to the other output terminal of the high voltage power supply 13, thereby the excitation circuit is simplified, and a laser beam having a long pulse duration is oscillated with high efficiency.
