Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title resin which can give a coating film excellent in adhesion to plastics and excellent in water resistance, by polymerizing an organosilicon monomer and other polymerizable monomers in an aqueous medium containing a specified polyester. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous medium is obtained by dissolving or dispersing 5-60pts.wt. water-soluble or self-emulsifying polyester (A) of a number-average MW of 1,000-100,000 in water in the absence of any emulsifier. 0.1-5pt.wt. organosilicon monomer (B) having both a polymerizable unsaturated group and an Si-bonded hydrolyzable group (e.g., gamma-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) and 35-94.9pts.wt. (A+B+C=100pts.wt.) other polymerizable monomers (C) (e.g., butyl acrylate) are polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator in said aqueous medium.
