自在に支持するロアーコラムと一体的に結合され
たコラムブラケツトに対してチルトピンのまわり
に傾動可能とされ、アツパコラム又はコラムブラ
ケツトの一方には固定ギヤー部材が、他方には該
固定ギヤー部材に噛合可能な可動ギヤー部材が固
定され、両ギヤー部材が噛合つた状態ではロツク
部材により可動ギヤー部材の回動が阻止されるよ
うになつており、必要に応じて操作部材を操作し
ロツク部材を作動させることにより両ギヤー部材
の噛合を解除できるようになつているチルトステ
アリング装置において、 前記ロツク部材はU字形状を有し、その中間部
には可動ギヤー部材に係合可能な係合部材が固定
されるとともに、その両端部においてチルトピン
に枢動されており、 ロツク部材の近傍には、前記操作部材の取付部
材がチルトピンと平行な軸のまわりに回動可能に
設けられ、 ロツク部材又は取付部材の一方には孔が、他方
には該孔を緩く貫通して延びる軸部材が各々設け
られ、取付部材を回動するとロツク部材が回動す
るようになつており、 さらに、取付部材には当接部が、ロツク部材に
は該当接部が当接可能な被当接部が各々形成され
、該当接部と被当接部とは、操作部材が締付位置
にあるときは僅かな距離で対向しており、操作部
材が解除位置に操作されると当接不可能な位置に
なり、しかも、操作位置にあるときにいわゆる二
次衝突によりロツク部材に可動ギヤー部材を固定
ギヤー部材から解放する力が加わつても、当接部
材が被当接部材に当接することにより、これが阻
止されるようになつていることを特徴とするチル
