Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (X and Y are H or methyl; Y is methyl when X is H and X is methyl when Y is H). EXAMPLE:Allyl(trans 1-propenyl) disulfide. USE:A garlic component useful as a spice, folk, medicine, etc. PREPARATION:A 1-propenethiol derivative expressed by formula II (A is thiol- protecting group eliminating by a halogenating agent) is reacted with an allyl mercaptan derivative expressed by formula III in the presence of a halogenating agent in a solvent, such as THF, at 0-100 deg.C for 30-180min to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. The halogenating agent is used in an amount of 1-3 equiv. based on the compound expressed by formula II and the excessive halogenating agent is removed by treating with a reducing agent, such as sodium sulfite, after completing the reaction.
