Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the titled composition of thermotropic liquid crystal nature, outstanding in heat resistance, flame retardancy, formability and secondary physical properties, made up of a polyester with thermotropic liquid crystal nature and arylate oligomer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition made up of (A) a polyester of thermotropic liquid crystal nature with intrinsic viscosity ≥0.5 (pref. 1W10, optimally 1W6), pref., a random copolyester of thermotropic liquid crystal nature, constituted mainly of units of respective formulas IWIII [Ar1 is trivalent aromatic group; Ar2 and Ar3 are each divalent aromatic group in which the aromatic ring may carry substituent(s)], equimolar for the formulas I and II with the molar ratio for the formula I to formula II being 5/95W95/5 and (B) an arylate oligomer with intrinsic viscosity ≤0.3, pref. derived from bisphenol A and terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid with the component A accounting for 90W50(pref. 80W50)wt.% of the final composition.
